SENIOR LAB ENGINEER - Job Description and Responsibilities:
Working on-premises in a data center, managing resource configurations, system troubleshooting and working collaboratively with local and remote team members on meeting service level agreements supporting the Veritas engineering organization.

Position Requirements:
·Education: B.S in Computer Science, MIS, E.E. or relevant work experience
·Work Experience: 4+ years operations experience, working in a data center, QA or Lab Engineering environment

Required Skills:
·Applied experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining hardware in a data center environment
·Troubleshooting IPv4/IPv6, DNS, NFS, HTTP, hardware, and connectivity issues
·Perform system upgrades, replacing internal system components and running firmware updates
·Experience using Linux operating systems and shell commands
·Familiarity with Windows and VMware is a plus
·Hands on experience working with distributed lab cabling schemes and patch panels
·Hardware familiarity that can be applied to procurement and generating BOM’s
·Developing site deployment plans
·Collaborate with the larger team to identify and streamline key processes
·Ability to support internal engineering teams in a fast-paced development environment
·Experience engaging vendors to drive issue resolution
·Ability to follow lab safety standards while working in the data center coupled with ensuring the security of physical and intellectual property

Hardware Administration
·Exposure to working and troubleshooting on HP and DELL server and blade hardware
·Experience with Veritas appliances is a plus
·Hands on experience working with storage arrays or JBOD’s
·One or more industry certifications such as A+, Network vendor cert, Cisco cert (Data Center, CCNA)
·Installing and troubleshooting systems through remote consoles (IPMI, iLo, IDRAC, KVM)

Veritas Products
·Good understanding of one or more Veritas products – Infoscale, NetBackup, Appliance Product Family, APTARE IT Analytics is a plus

Communication and Other Skills
·Excellent communication and customer service skills
·Working with ticketing software, generating reports, monitoring lab resources, and informing management on status
·Experience managing customer ticket delivery within the allocated SLA, building server configurations, aiding customer on config related questions, maintaining lab infrastructure, racking system
·Handle escalations for customer and internal issues promptly
·Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work inside a data center environment for extended hours
·Attention to detail in maintaining accurate inventory management tools and processes
·Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills, ability to work independently or with a team
·Knowledge of Excel/web tools/MSSharePoint/Visio/Confluence/TEAMS/APTAREis an added plus
·Must be a good listener, creative, intuitive, a problem solver with the ability to multi-task in stressful situations along with posing excellent leadership skills
·Have the desire to make a difference through a positive demeanor and passion for the job
·Willing to learn new skills and self-motivated to grow in your technical career
