Job Summary:
Registered Nurse will provide nursing care to patient population needing emergency services. Lutheran General is a Level 1 Trauma Medical Center with magnet designation.
This position assists the Manager of Clinical Operations in providing administrative and clinical leadership on assigned shift. The Assistant Clinical Manager will help plan, coordinate and manage personnel and resources to provide the highest quality patient care with trained, professional and competent staff in the most cost:effective manner.
This role will also assist in the provision of ongoing educational and professional development of staff. In conjunction with the manager, the Assistant Clinical Manager will collaborate with physicians and other health care disciplines to assure optimal patient care.
Performance of the principle duties and responsibilities of the RN position and serves as a role model for professional practice. Promotion and support of an environment that is conducive to staff growth and development and autonomy.
Collaborates with the Manager of Clinical Operations, medical director, and others in developing the strategic plan and direction for the unit. Practices the principles of performance improvement. Responsibility for professional growth and development.
Position Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with Current IL RN license
:
Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) with 3:4 years clinical experience OR ADN degree with 5 years clinical experience and enrolled in a Bachelors in Nursing program within six months of appointment (completion of program within five years of appointment).

Current AHA CPR and ACLS
:
Prefer nursing experience within Emergency Department Level 1 Trauma
:
Minimum of 1 year proven Charge RN experience
:
Demonstrated leadership experience
:
Certifications/education required for the nursing specialty
:
Ability to communicate effectively and work cohesively with a diverse work group
:
Ability to work collaboratively with internal/external customers
:
Utilization of critical thinking in timely decision making
:
Ability to prioritize independently and respond to multiple simultaneous requests
:
Work environment includes probability of exposure to adverse, hazardous, or unpleasant conditions while caring for the sick
:
Ability to assist in evacuation of patients in the event of a fire or other disaster
:
Routinely works with potentially infectious specimens and patients
:
Ability to respond to patients in a timely manner and access all areas of the unit
:
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case:by:case basis.
