Description:
Our client is currently seeking a Propulsion Analyst II
Job Description:
As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will help design and develop rocket engines and propulsion systems. You will define thermal/fluid operating environments for all components of a liquid rocket engine from tank to nozzle. You will characterize the performance of liquid transport systems and thermally sensitive hardware both steady state and during extremely transient events.
Responsibilities:
Provide subject matter expertise in the design and analysis of rocket engines
Develop analysis and test approaches to verify thermal/fluid characteristics of rocket engine components
Use 1D flow models and classical approaches to support design efforts, test activities, and failure investigations
Improve existing analytical capabilities by developing and documenting tools and processes
Communicate with business leaders and external customers on thermal/fluid topics
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
10+ years of experience in thermal/fluid analysis
Experience using ANSYS for complex thermal analyses
Experience supporting liquid rocket development
Experience with in space thermal modeling
Experience using Thermal Desktop Sinda/Fluint or equivalent
Experience analyzing rocket thrust chambers
Experience analyzing cryogenic fluids in valves, heat exchangers, and pumps
Knowledge of at least one programming/scripting language (Python/MATLAB/etc)
Ability to work effectively in teams
Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one time
Ability to communicate analysis results and rationale to business leaders and customers
or permanent resident (current holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
