Job summary
The Patient Service Specialist (PSS) will function as the initial point of contact for patientsResponsibilities include scheduling patients, accepting payments, and data entryThe PSS will provide quality customer service and ensure timely and accurate entry of patient data
Job seniority: entry level
Responsibilities
• Greet patients courteously and schedule appointments• Answer phones and transfer calls to departments• Register patients accurately and collect payments• Obtain referrals and check patient eligibility• Assist patients with forms and monitor wait times• Direct patients to appropriate areas within the facility• Document communication with patients and insurance companies• Maintain effective working relations with coworkers and staff• Deliver outstanding customer service and maintain confidentiality• Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
• High school graduate or GED required• Vocational training in healthcare a plus• Experience with billing and accounts receivable preferred• Knowledge of insurance benefits and FQHC billing• Basic knowledge of medical and billing terminology• Intermediate knowledge of Excel and Windows-based programs• Strong organizational and analytical skills• Ability to work independently and as part of a team• Strong problem-solving and communication skills• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
