HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
This position will be in support of the department of Health Professions Education (HPE) at the Uniformed Services University.
HJF is seeking a Educator I/Assistant Professor (PhD Distance Learning Educator) to support the Distance Learning educational mission for the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, including the Masters and PhD program in Health Professions Education (HPE). Incumbent will serve in teaching, service, and research roles and, as such, will be responsible for tasks and related activity to include assisting faculty with online and blended learning course design, faculty coaching and development, evaluation, and research dissemination. The incumbent will be a faculty member in the department of Health Professions Education and will be expected to teach HPE courses, advise Masters and PhD learners and pursue a program of research as well as related duties. It is expected that the candidate will also prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and develop presentations for scholarly conferences from the research data generated from the project(s) consistent with academic rank. The candidate may also serve on academic committees as well as other service assignments. 
Responsibilities Assists University faculty with designing, developing, and evaluating online and blended learning courses that are consistent with sound instructional design principles. Processes and interprets experimental data. Formulates experimental hypotheses and designs experimental protocols. Evaluates, researches, and communicates new and emerging educational technologies and theories for blended and hybrid learning with other faculty. Makes scientific observations, maintains detailed workbooks, and ensures documentation fulfills generally accepted professional/industry standards. Mentors HPE students and faculty. Coaches/mentors faculty with hybrid learning instruction. Teach in CHPE course(s) related to area(s) of expertise. Pursues a program of research as part of the CHPE team. Advises Master and PhD CHPE learners on their research projects. Assists with writing and editing of research results for dissemination within USU for program evaluation purposes, as well as publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Serves on committees and helps with administrative tasks related to teaching and research Serves on School of Medicine committees as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Doctoral-level training in education, psychology, or a related field, to include training in research design, qualitative analysis, and quantitative analysis. Knowledge of and experience with teaching content areas in field of specialization. Familiarity with academic and research advising Master and PhD students. Strong personal initiative and ability to work independently. Ability to use sound judgment in solving problems. Ability to coordinate multiple systems, projects, and programs at the same time. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to coordinate disparate groups of faculty and learners in meeting and working together. Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 and/or CAC Public Trust clearance.  Work Environment This position will take place primarily in an office setting. Education and Experience Doctoral Degree in a Social or Behavioral related field.  Minimum of 3-5 years' experience required. Some HJF employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
